What does it mean to  Join the Journey?

We are all on a journey. We are all destined for a certain eternity that awaits every person. Most people will readily admit, some enthusiastically, that heaven is the eternal reward they seek. In fact, heaven is the eternal destination that is greatly coveted by almost everyone.

Since most people see God as the decision maker regarding who enters His heavenly Kingdom, He is regarded as a gatekeeper of sorts. Because God decides, we want to please Him. Pleasing God by taking the path He has provided to know Him is the journey everyone should carefully follow. It makes sense to follow the way God has prepared since it is His Kingdom and His presence that we seek.

The question is: Where is your journey taking you; heaven or somewhere else? Are you following the way He has provided to know Him or is it a separate path you have chosen, a journey of your own making?

In the Book of Romans, we find that God has put within the heart of every person a desire to know Him. In Romans 1: 19-20, we find that the journey to know Him has been downloaded into our psyche. However, nothing outside of a restored relationship with God will satisfy that desire. We also find in the following verses that He gives every person an innate need to worship. If we choose to worship anything other than the person of God, in a relationship, we will unwittingly worship His creation—people, places, or things.  We will worship something, it’s just a matter of what we pursue, trying to satisfy that inward yearning.

Joining the Journey means pursuing God His way because He tells us in His word that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him, His way.

As you know, the more you invest in a relationship, the richer it becomes. It is the same way with God. Spend time in fellowship and communion with Him. Speak to Him as a friend, and just as important, spend time listening to what He says to you. Pursuing God in a relationship is the journey that satisfies our deepest longings to be loved, accepted, affirmed, valued, and that gives us complete fulfillment, significance, and satisfaction for living.
